RCDT disc tube technology for difficult feed waters

RCDT disc tube technology is designed for wastewater streams where open flow channels, cleanability and operational robustness are more important than maximum packing density.

Technical overview

How the RCDT module works

The RCDT module consists of a pressure tube, hydraulic discs, membrane cushions and a central tension rod. The feed water flows radially across round membrane cushions, while permeate is collected inside the cushion and routed through the central permeate channel.

This geometry forms open channels between hydraulic discs and membrane cushions. In demanding applications, this supports lower sensitivity to fouling, practical cleaning and robust operation compared with very compact spiral wound configurations.

Open radial flow channels

The feed solution moves across the membrane surface through channels formed by the disc geometry. This gives the system a different hydraulic behavior than narrow spiral wound feed spacers.

  • radial crossflow across membrane cushions
  • open feed channel geometry
  • reduced dependence on extremely fine pre-treatment
  • suitable for high-load wastewater concepts

Membrane cushion construction

Round membrane cushions are positioned between hydraulic discs. The permeate passes through the active membrane layer and is collected inside the cushion before leaving through the central channel.

  • defined separation of concentrate and permeate
  • ultrasonic welded membrane cushions
  • reverse osmosis and nanofiltration options
  • RCDT 3.0 generation with increased membrane area

Where RCDT adds value

RCDT is relevant where wastewater composition creates fouling, scaling or service challenges. Typical areas include landfill leachate, industrial effluents, concentrate treatment and retrofit situations.

  • landfill leachate
  • industrial wastewater with variable load
  • RO reject recovery
  • containerized treatment plants
